Jerusalem Rain (Artist Itamar Rubner)
Acrylic on Canvas
I sought to create a utopian Jerusalem landscape in a setting that is removed from time and current reality, yet still bridges with the physical in its allusion to the weather. It is an observational study of an imagined, abstract landscape. My intention was to elicit a sense of longing and nostalgia rooted in our national conscience for the Jerusalem we pray for: restored, a rebuilt Beit Hamikdash and a quiet calm presiding over everything. It is invested with bold saturated primary colours and gilded with golds and coppers to achieve its dreamlike quality.
